On October 1 the RA National Assembly Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan took part in the celebrations dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the city of Armavir and the Harvest day. The citizens of Armavir met the Speaker of the National Assembly at the square in high spirits, with singing and dancing and bread and salt. The central square of Armavir city was in festive decoration and mood, and the representatives of all communities filled the colouring of the Ararat Valley with their harvest and goods. Each community laid its table loaded with fruit, vegetables, various food and desserts that had grown or prepared on their own. The representatives of the city of Armavir of the RF Krasnodar region also had come to share the joy of the citizens of Armavir, bringing a car as a present with them.
Hovik Abrahamyan became the sincere participant of the citizens’ and farmers’ joy. Accompanied with the NA deputies, the Deputy Prime Minister Armen Gevorgyan, the Deputy Minister of Agriculture Sergo Karapetyan, the Head of Armavir Marz Ashot Ghahramanyan he approached the laid tables, talked to the people, tasted the bread sincerely serviced to him, raised glass to the citizens of Armavir, their land, for strong Armenia and the welfare of its citizens. No community has been left out of Hovik Abrahamyan’s attention, and the representatives of all villages of the marz had an opportunity to communicate with the Head of the high legislative body in open and sincere atmosphere.
Taking advantage of the NA Speaker’s readiness, the citizens of Armavir also spoke about their problems. And as Hovik Abrahamyan mentioned in his talk with the journalists, several problems were proposed in relation to agriculture, schools, which in the NA Speaker’s words, would be discussed and given possible solutions. The Head of the Parliament emphasized such contacts, MPs’, ministers’ meetings with people, which give an opportunity to more closely get acquainted with village and the city problems. Congratulating those present on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of Armavir and the Harvest day, the NA Speaker considered the people’s high mood to be the most important thing, wishing them always to be like that.
The solemn sitting, which took place in the Armavir House of Culture, followed the open-air festivity, where the Head of the Marz and the Mayor of Armavir delivered speeches. As a token of gratitude and attitude shown towards the Marz, the NA Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan was granted a title of Honourable citizen of Armavir Marz.
Handing the golden memorial medal, the Head of Armavir Marz Ashot Ghahramanyan mentioned that irrespective of his post and venue Hovik Abrahamyan had always been with the Marz, promoted the solution of its problems, became happy with its success and accomplishments.
Expressing his gratitude for the high title and award, the NA Speaker mentioned that getting it he assumed a great responsibility towards Armavir Marz. Congratulating those present once again on the 80th anniversary of Armavir, Hovik Abrahamyan noted that he had been the Mayor of Artashat and was able to imagine very well what a heavy burden was laid on the Mayor, especially in the conditions of today’s world crisis. “But if the Mayor, the official likes his land, water, the people, would make every effort to serve his people,” said Hovik Abrahamyan, expressing conviction that in 10 years when the 90th anniversary of Armavir would be celebrated, the city would be more beautiful, the people’s social condition better. “We are obliged to mend prosperous Armenia, prosperous Armavir, prosperous Yerevan, and we should do it,” noted the Speaker of the National Assembly.
Touching upon the jubilee of Armavir once again, he has stated that our person is worth of such holidays and had gained that right. “Happy Holiday, Armavir!” Hovik Abrahamyan concluded.
