RA National Assembly Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan Meets the Representatives of the Studentship of Yerevan Haybusak and Gladzor Non-State Higher Educational Institutions
“Our goal is that the National Assembly will be open and transparent for the community,” RA National Assembly Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan said during the meeting with the representatives of the studentship of Haybusak and Gladzor non-state higher educational institutions, noting that within the framework of that policy, representatives of schools, higher educational institutions, NGOs, who have opportunity to directly get familiarized with the works of the legislative higher body and the deputies, to take part at the NA sittings, to meet the leadership of the parliament, to have a picture about the functions of the NA activity and the work order.
The participants of the meeting thanked the NA Speaker for constant contacts with the youth, highlighting the role of the young people and for being aware of their problems and highly assessed that meeting, observing it as an evidence of transparent working policy adopted by Hovik Abrahamyan and ongoing implementation of reforms in NA.
The NA Speaker highlighted the participation of the youth in the public life, to which the Youth Parliament being created on his initiative would give wide opportunity. Hovik Abrahamyan noted that it would be a real functioning, but not an online structure, carry out a full activity, would have 12 committees (as the National Assembly), and its chairpersons would lead the Youth Parliament by the principle of rotation. The members of the committees will take part in the works of the NA standing committees, will have debates and submit their recommendations. Party members and non-partisans, representatives of higher educational institutions, marzes and national minorities will be represented in the Youth Parliament. The NA Speaker expressed conviction that the structure would carry out active work.
In general, the Speaker of the National Assembly was willing to discuss any reasonable proposal, also including in the social network. In response to him being represented in Facebook network, the NA Speaker said he personally is getting familiarized with the issues being raised and views being appeared in that social network, and is convinced that such discussions would promote making effective decisions.
The NA Speaker expressed willingness to again meet with the students, who, by the way, have practice in the National Assembly.
