On April 5 the joint press conference of Artur Baghdasaryan, RA NA President and Herman De Croo, President of the Chamber of Representatives of the Kingdom of Belgium being in Armenia on an official visit was held.
Welcoming the first official delegation of the Belgian MPs in Armenia, NA President Artur Baghdasaryan underscored that the visit will be of great importance for the development of the inter-governmental and inter-parliamentary relations. In particular, NA President will activate the relations between the parliamentary friendship groups, standing committees and international structures.
Artur Baghdasaryan considered effective the contacts of Armenia with Belgium, especially in the sphere of diamond cutting. It was noted that during different meetings issues pertaining to the deepening of health, education and cultural cooperation were discussed. NA President informed that Belgium allocated 20m USD to the sphere of health of Armenia, also supports the works of recovering “Arabkir” medical center.
Issues of political importance, problems pertaining to deepening of democratic reforms of Armenia, as well as NKR key issue and issues pertaining to the relations with Turkey were discussed.
Expressing thanks for the warm welcome in the hospitable land of Armenia, Herman De Croo, President of the Chamber of Representatives of the Kingdom of Belgium, he noted that during two days numerous effective meetings with RA high-ranking officials, Catholicos of All Armenians Garegin II, MPs, ambassadors having their diplomatic mission in Armenia, representatives of international structures, distinguished doctors of health care system and students of European Regional Academy were held.
Mr. De Croo noted that the delegation paid their respects to the memory of the victims of the Genocide and in that conjunction planted a tree in Tsitsernakaberd.
Elaborating upon the two neighbours of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Turkey, Mr. De Croo drew parallels between the history of Europe and Armenia, noting that the only way to solve the problems is the dialogue, which during different meetings ensured the Armenians.
The President of the Belgian Parlaiment highly estimated the process of fulfillment of the undertaken obligations of Armenia before the Council of Europe and complying the legislation of Armenia with the legislation of the Council of Europe.
