I warmly congratulate you on Armenian Press Day.

In all times of its existence the press has been the first indicator of the public moods. Today the society is more sensitive and active, more rapidly and directly reacts to the events and phenomena. And the role of the mass media is rather big in it.

As a tribune of free speech and plurality and the propagator of the establishment of the civil society the Armenian press has its weighty participation in the process of strengthening of democratic values in the country. In the sincere environment providing a full and free activity you do not only record the facts and phenomena, but also promote the more active and objective steps of the society and the authorities.

I am convinced that when next year we will celebrate the 220^th anniversary of the foundation of the Armenian first periodical Azdarar we will record more dignified posture of the local press, more expedient activity devoted to the Motherland, more valuable word for the benefit of our country, people and the society.
