It is designed to comply the legal regulations of the sector with the EAEU legislation, creating an opportunity for data collection, analysis, forecasts and implementation of measures aimed at development. The RA Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan said this presenting the package of drafts on Making Amendments and Addenda to the Law on Organic Agriculture and on Making Addendum and Amendment to the RA Code on Administrative Offenses for debate at the NA sitting in the first reading on April 12.
According to the Minister, it is proposed to establish an authorizing norm for implementing state control regarding requirements for labeling, storage, transportation, and sale of organic agricultural products, as well as liability for violations of these requirements at the stages of the commodity movement of these products.
It was noted that as a result of the adoption of the package of draft, it is expected to expand the field of certification of organic agricultural products, to create competitive opportunities in the field, to facilitate and improve the certification process, to expand farms engaged in organic agriculture and increase production volumes.
The Deputy Chair of the Standing Committee on Territorial Administration, Local Self-Government, Agriculture and Environment Protection Aren Mkrtchyan presented the endorsement of the Head Committee.
The deputy of the Civil Contract Faction Sona Ghazaryan inquired what the Ministry of Economy is doing to ensure the rights of our citizens. According to her, one of the media’s publications recently referred to the sale of expired eggs.
Vahan Kerobyan stated that the Government directs a significant part of its efforts to ensuring the enforcement of laws. It was mentioned that they were interested in that publication with the Food Safety Inspection Body whether the studies on the expiration date of the eggs were carried out in accordance with the standards. This issue will be addressed in the near future.
According to the deputy of Armenia Faction Artur Khachatryan, the rating of our country has decreased by a number of international indexes.
In response, Vahan Kerobyan stated that we are in the 11th place in the world only according to the Economic Freedom index of Fraser Institute. He also added that we are now experiencing the best economic years.
