On May 10, the RA NA Vice President Lena Nazaryan met with the members of the Parliamentary Assembly of La Francophonie (OIF) Jean-Charles Luperto, Sophie Mette, Aurora Madaula, Joshua Osih, Emmanuel Maury and Fatmir Leci. The Head of the RA NA Delegation to OIF Hovhannes Igityan also took part in the meeting.
The visit of the Parliamentary Assembly of La Francophonie to Armenia has been scheduled still in November of the previous year, but it has been postponed conditioned by well-known events.
Welcoming the guests in parliament, Lena Nazaryan has noted that from November until today many events had happened in our country: “Armenia passed through hard and difficult war. It happened because Azerbaijan violated the international agreement of solving the Karabakh conflict through peaceful means.”
The Deputy Speaker of the Parliament has underlined that the Karabakh conflict has no military solution, it is a political problem, which is not solved.
The NA Vice President has also stated that Armenia is a blockaded country by Azerbaijan and Turkey.
The issue of the Armenian captives being detained in Azerbaijan that had not been solved after seven months, was also emphasized.
She has underscored that in this respect the pressure of the international structures also increases through the French colleagues, for which the Deputy Speaker has thanked.
The Head of the Mission of OIF Europe Jean-Charles Luperto, thanking for the reception, conveyed their sincere, warm and unanimous attitude towards the Armenians. He asked the NA Vice President to present the priority of the facts reflecting the situation for conveying to his colleagues and preparing relevant resolution.
Presenting the priority of the actions, Lena Nazaryan distinguished the issues regarding the captives’ return, the preservation of the cultural values in Artsakh and the destiny of Artsakh. In this context the Vice President highlighted the restoration of the negotiations – the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairmanship format.
The members of the Parliamentary Assembly of La Francophonie expressed readiness to assist for the solution of the raised issues.
