On October 22 the RA National Assembly continued the work of the four-day sittings passing by voting the draft laws debated on the previous day and ratifying the agreement “On Cooperation of the Participant States of the Commonwealth Independent States in the Struggle against Illegal Preparation of a Gun, Ammunition, Explosive Materials and Explosives and Their Turnover” (with enclosed reservation) signed in Chisinau on November 14, 2008.

By the recommendation of the NA Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan the deputies welcomed the students of Pokr Mher/Little Mher Educational Complex, who were hosted in the parliament within the framework of the NA Open Lesson programme and were following the NA sitting.

Afterwards the NA continued the debate of the package of the draft laws “On Amending the RA Law on Employment” and “On Amending the RA Code on Administrative Infringements.” The Chairman of the Head NA Standing Committee on Social Affairs Hakob Hakobyan endorsed the package.

During the exchange of thoughts the deputies voiced their positions and opinions on the package and the problems existing in the sphere of unemployment.

The MPs Vahram Baghdasaryan, Mher Shahgeldyan, Sukias Avetisyan, Artsvik Minasyan, Hovhannes Margaryan, Edmon Marukyan Rubik Hakobyan expressed their views on the debating issue.

The Secretary of the Prosperous Armenia faction Naira Zohrabyan presented the negative position of the faction on the bills.

In their final speeches the key reporter, the RA Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Artem Asatryan and the Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on Social Affairs Hakob Hakobyan touched upon the sounded views and gave clarifications.

The Chief-Minister of the Staff of the RA Government Vache Gabrielyan proposed the legislators to debate the draft law “On the Payment of the Persons Occupying State Posts” with enclosed package.

Questions were addressed to the key reporter, which were relating to the policy of rising the minimum salary, the differences of the salary rates of the employees of the private and state sectors, etc.

The debate of the package will continue at the NA October 23 sitting.

The last hour of the sitting was allotted to the deputies’ announcements in accordance with the NA Rules of Procedure.
