At June 30 extraordinary session, the RA Deputy Minister of Justice presented for debate of parliament in the second reading the package of the draft laws on Making Amendments and Addenda to the RA Criminal Procedure Code and the enclosed presented ones authored by the Government. Presenting in detail the provisions of the legislative initiative, the key rapporteur has noted that the amendments are described by a number of fundamental innovations of principle, which will essentially improve and upgrade the criminal-procedure functioning system, ensuring visible rise of criminal justice efficiency. As a result of lasting working discussions, the package of draft laws was revised and was passed large-scale phase of public debates.
As the co-r4apporteur, the member of the NA Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs Nikolay Baghdasaryan has presented, it is an awaited law, and in case of its adoption we’ll have a full other justice.
According to the Chair of the Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs Vladimir Vardanyan, the new Criminal Procedure Code is based on the new philosophy and legal way of thinking. He called on his colleagues to endorse the draft law.
In his final speech Armen Hovhannisyan noted that as a result of more than ten years work a legislative package able to move the local criminal procedure to a new qualitative phase was presented for debate, which would allow ensuring a balanced protection of public and private interests in the framework of criminal procedure, and would raise the role and authority of the judicial power in the sphere of criminal justice.
