On November 2 Hovik Abrahamyan, RA National Assembly President, has received the members of the delegation of the European Parliament led by Milan Cabrnoch, Head of the Delegation, Co-Chair of the RA-EU Parliamentary Cooperation Committee, who are in Armenia to take part in the 12th RA-EU Parliamentary Cooperation Committee Meeting.
The NA President welcomed the holding of the RA-EU Parliamentary Cooperation Committee Meeting in Yerevan and highlighted Armenia-European Union cooperation, which had been considerably activated during the recent years in different dimensions. Hovik Abrahamyan has noted that the European Integration is one of the prior directions for Armenia.
Expressing his gratitude for the reception Milan Cabrnoch has noted that this is the first time they have been in Yerevan and has expressed hope that they will visit Armenia again. He also presented the format of the issues to be discussed at the 12th RA-EU Parliamentary Cooperation Committee Meeting.
At the meeting the sides also touched upon the NK problem, the upcoming parliamentary elections and other issues. The NA President has noted that Armenia sees the NK conflict settlement through peaceful negotiations and within the OSCE Minsk Group. Regarding the parliamentary elections Hovik Abrahamyan mentioned that a new Electoral Code, in conformity with European standards and approved by a number of European structures, was adopted, the authorities have necessary political will and will do their utmost in order the parliamentary elections, envisaged in May 2012, be held free, fair and transparent.
