June 1 is the International Day of the Protection of the Children’s Rights. On the occasion of that day in the Children’s School of Fine Arts of the town of Vedi in Ararat marz the premiere of the Children’s Opera ‘The End of the Evil’ written by the composer Azat Manukyan based on Hovhannes Tumanian’s namesake folk-tale, was held. This children’s opera hasn’t been staged before, in the 1950s it has been recorded once and preserved in the Public Radio Fund. RA NA Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan sponsored the performance.
Continuing the patronage of the international and educational and educational programmes, the head of the parliament not only supported the solution of the problems connected with the staging of the children’s opera, but also expressed willingness to make the performance accessible to the children of all marzes of Armenia, assisting the staging in the marzes, as well as in Artsakh.
The children of the Vedi School of Fine Arts met Hovik Abrahamyan singing and dancing, after which with the participation of the NA Speaker, the Governor of Ararat and teachers, the premiere of the children’s opera took place.
After the performance the RA NA Speaker in his talk with the journalists noted that the population of the marzes should be made active participant in the theatrical and in general, cultural life. Congratulating the children on the occasion of their holiday, Hovik Abrahamyan added that he was glad to mark it with the children of his native province. “I would like to remind some political figures about this story of the cuckoo and the fox, in order they would understand that the end of the evil would not be good. Let them be involved with not doing evil to the people, but with good deeds. Every political figure should understand that the children are the future of our nation, and every official should help our future generations,” the NA Speaker said. Hovik Abrahamyan also noted that he visited Vedi School of Fine Arts in 1999, when he was in the post of Governor of Ararat: “It has been well preserved, though an agreement has been reached with the director to help the school. We’ll do our best in order to preserve the school. The executive and legislative body should pay great attention to the proportional development of the provinces. We should go out of Yerevan and support other communities. In the 21st century people must think good, serve the people, the state. I am sure that we have big potential to solve together all the problems, be tolerant, united, in order to be able to overcome all the obstacles in this rapidly changing world.”
The NA Speaker got acquainted with the paintings of the children of the School of Fine Arts after the performance.
Thanking the RA NA Speaker for sponsoring the performance, the stage director of the children’s opera, the singer of the choir of Al. Spendiarian Opera and Ballet Academic Theatre Sedrak Grigoryan noted that on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the School of Fine Arts they presented a programme, to which responded the RA NA Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan, who materially and spiritually assisted and inspired the participants of the performance. “We have an aim to found Children’s Opera Theatre, as from the 80s till now there is no understanding of children’s opera theatre in Armenia. We envisage to have tours with the performance ‘The End of the Evil’ in different provinces of Armenia and Armenian communities of different countries,” Sedrak Grigoryan said, adding that they tried to give a little modern breath to the new opera, including percussions in the performance. It was noted that the performance was prepared during one educational year.
