On February 25, the graduation event of the Group for 2021 of the Parliamentary Practice and Fellowship program being implemented by the National Democratic Institute (NDI) was held in the National Assembly. The RA NA Vice President, the NA Acting President Hakob Arshakyan, the RA NA Chief of Staff, Secretary General Vahan Naribekyan, the Mission Director of the U.S. Agency for International Development AID/Armenia John Allelo, the Director for the National Democratic Institute (NDI) in Armenia Laura Nichols. the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the Republic of Armenia Nicholas Schermers, the direct heads of the program, the participants and representatives from the Staff of Parliament took part there.
The participants of the program implemented media monitoring, the studies of the citizens’ applications, gave advice, made studies of international experience and analyses, translations.
Welcoming the graduates, the RA NA Vice President Hakob Arshakyan highlighted the cooperation of parliament with the international counterparts.
“The parliament constantly maintains the contact with the young researchers, specialists and scientists, and this program is the next opportunity of strengthening that contact. Passing their practice in the offices of the factions, deputies, in different departments of the Staff the participants of the programme obtained knowledge, new and important skills. I am sure that they also had their special contribution to the activities of parliament with their work and diligence,” the RA NA Vice President, the NA Acting President Hakob Arshakyan said.
The Deputy Speaker of Parliament congratulated the graduates for passing the regular benchmark, noting that the continuous deepening and development of knowledge serve as a basis for strengthening of Armenia, the continuous development of democratic processes in our country.
The Mission Director of the USAID/Armenia John Allelo noted that the young specialists were given opportunity to get experience, promoting the formation of stable democratic, prosperous community, as well as to have powerful parliament with skillful representatives. One of the graduates with her new ideas had already joined the USAID team. According to John Allelo, they are also ready for courses of 2022.
The NA Chief of Staff, Secretary General Vahan Naribekyan informed that this week the educational process of the new interns of the National Democratic Institute launched. They got acquainted with the heads of departments of the NA Staff, passed an introductory course and studied the peculiarities of the parliament’s activities. As Vahan Naribekyan has presented year by year the interest of the young specialists passing practice in parliament increases. He also congratulated the graduates, wishing them new successes.
The Director for the National Democratic Institute (NDI) in Armenia Laura Nichols underlined the diligent work that was implemented in the last two years.
At the end of the event the graduates received certificates.
