On December 10 the Speaker of RA National Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan received the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the Republic of Armenia Lee Youn Hoy. The Chief of RA Staff Gegham Gharibjanyan, RA Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Sanasaryan, Honourable Consul of the Republic of Korea to the Republic of Armenia, RA NA deputy Armen Abrahamyan attended the meeting.

The NA Speaker greeted the Ambassador’s visit to the legislative body of Armenia and expressed conviction that with his activity he would promote the development of the Armenian-Korean relations. Hovik Abrahamyan noted that he was very impressed by his official visit to the Republic of Korea last year and reception there, during which once again it was documented that a big field of cooperation was available.

The Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the Republic of Armenia Lee Youn Hoy thanked for reception recalling with warmth the meeting with the NA Speaker in July this year and ensured that all the efforts would be made for developing and strengthening the relations with the two countries.

Hovik Abrahamyan highly assessed the support of Korea showing in technical renovation of the NA Hall and especially the assistance of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and GS Company to RA National Assembly.

The Ambassador of Korea, who before meeting the RA NA Speaker, went to the reconstructed hall of the parliament with the Chief of NA Staff Gegham Gharibjanyan and got acquainted with the works of the technical renovation, which was implemented by the Koreans’ assistance, told to the RA NA Speaker that he was very impressed by the hall and he was glad for the support shown by Korea.

Hovik Abrahamyan expressed willingness as NA Speaker to support the strengthening of the bilateral relations, the implementation of the investment programmes, emphasizing the investments of the Korean companies in Armenia. He considered important the organization of the meetings between the businessmen, conducting of the business forums. It was considered necessary to activate the inter-parliamentary relations, the cooperation in the international structures, the mutual visits of the deputies and Friendship Groups. The RA NA Speaker reaffirmed the invitation of visiting the Republic of Armenia addressed to the Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Korea.

The interlocutors also touched upon the events, which recently took place between the Republic of Korea and the People’s Democratic Republic of Korea. Expressing anxiety in connection with the use of force considering unacceptable it, the NA Speaker noted that the relations should be normalized through peaceful negotiations.
