At February 28 extraordinary sitting, the RA NA Standing Committee on Defense and Security debated in the second reading the legislative package designing addenda to the Laws on Military Service and the Status of Serviceman and on Remuneration of Persons Holding State Positions and State Service Positions. The Government proposes to define a system of attestation for the contract servicemen holding positions non-combat functions, planning or control. Unlike the functioning attestation – combat system, the servicemen included in this group, will pass only fire readiness and professional knowledge tests. In case of positive results of attestation, paying surcharges are envisaged.

The RA Deputy Minister of Defense Karen Brutyan informed that there were no proposals during the period from the first to the second reading.

Answering the question of the deputy of the NA Armenia Faction Gegham Manukyan, the Deputy Minister said that 5902 servicemen submitted an application for taking part in attestation, 5783 out of them took part in the attestation. According to the attestation results, 91 received excellent mark, 583 – good, 2152 – satisfactory and 2957 – unsatisfactory. On February 29, 980 servicemen will pass attestation, and on March 4-7 – 628 servicemen.

The committee endorsed the issue.
