“Books make people beautiful. In addition to reading books, spread the love of book reading, be a contagious example. Books are not for a day, their wisdom is for a lifetime”, said the RA NA President Alen Simonyan during the meeting with the readers who were recognized as the best readers in 2022 of Avetik Isahakyan and Khnko Aper National children's libraries.
Since 2008, Hovhannes Tumanyan's birthday, February 19, has been celebrated as Book Giving Day by the decision of the RA Government and the initiative of the Writers' Union President Levon Ananyan.
The Director of Hovhannes Toumanian Museum Ani Yeghiazaryan, Aram Ananyan, Levon Ananyan's son, and the Deputy Chair of the Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Diaspora, Youth and Sport of the National Assembly Taguhi Ghazaryan, also met with the readers at Book Giving Day event.
Toumanian specialist Ani Yeghiazaryan, the founder of the “Book Spinning” project Aram Ananyan talked with the readers about the meaningful Book Giving Day and about Toumanian.
In 2022, Vernatun Publishing House published the novel “Yerkir Nairi” by Yeghishe Charents. The editor of the book, literary critic Taguhi Ghazaryan informed the readers that the novel is being published for the first time with the latest version edited by the writer and the examination of the previous editions.

Within the framework of events dedicated to Book Giving Day, the exhibition of books with the title “Present Books” kept in the National Assembly Library was introduced.
A cognitive visit to the building of the National Assembly was organized for the readers.
On the occasion of Book Giving Day, the members of Ktsik (Coil) team, engaged in handicrafts and performing arts, presented Meronk (Ours) series in the area adjacent to the Parliament session hall: the authors of the works are Tatev Tsaturyan and a graduate of the National Assembly Summer School programme Nane Helhelyan. Briefly introducing the idea of book sculptures, Nane mentioned that the idea was born seven years ago, for giving a second life and reusing old books that had become waste paper. “The primary question that arises in people's minds after seeing the books is whether they are not damaged, I will confidently say no. The images are created using the folding technique, as a result of which the readable parts of the book remain unmistakable, and these sculptures, which have already become interior decor, can be re-read at any time,” Nane detailed. During seven years, 700 and more books were ordered from different corners of the world, in particular, from the USA, Russia, Italy. According to the author, Ktsik is one of the leaders among those engaged in this arts in the world, both in terms of technique, the complexity of the works, and the number of works created, and all this started in Armenia.
The portraits of 31 greatest Armenians are presented in the series Meronk displayed in the National Assembly.
