The ‘doping’ notion and the anti-doping activity are specified, the significance of the National Anti-Doping Organization in Armenia and its powers are set. In 2022, our athletes registered unprecedented results, and with these amendments we do our best that all of a sudden any of our athletes will not be disqualified, and Armenia will not be deprived of those best results. The deputy of the NA Civil Contract Faction Sisak Gabrielyan informed about this at January 13 sitting of the NA Standing Committee on Education, Culture, Diaspora, Youth and Sport, presenting the draft law on Making Amendments and Addenda to the law on Physical Culture and Sports for debate in the first reading.

According to the substantiation, the initiative of making amendments and addenda to the law is conditioned by the necessity of the use of principles and norms of the international law, and the imperative of complying with the modern requirements being introduced to the sphere. The World Anti-Doping Agency also addressed the Anti-Doping Agency State Non-Commercial Organization (SNCO) of Armenia with the demand of initiating such amendments.

The Committee endorsed the draft.

The draft law on Making Addenda and Amendment to the law on Physical Culture and Sport was also debated in the first reading. As the Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture, Sport Karen Giloyan informed, it is proposed to include the military games also in the list of awarding kinds of sports and events, as the army games with their scale only yield the Olympic Games and are adequate to student’s games. It was noted that about 200 countries sometimes take part in the army games. “This has become a very important event, and it’s time that we refer to those games decently and we’ll encourage the athletes for those games,” the Deputy Minister underlined.

It is proposed by the draft also to set an authorizing norm, as well as to fix that the annual programmes are approved by the physical education and sport state government authorized body.

This draft was also endorsed by the Committee.
