The parliament debated in the second reading the draft law on Making Amendments and Addenda to the Law on Road Transport authored by the deputy Zaruhi Batoyan at the NA extraordinary session convened on July 14. The adoption of the initiative is conditioned by the need to create legal bases for the realization of the rights of passengers with disabilities, as well as the fulfillment of the obligations of the Republic of Armenia under international agreements.
According to Zaruhi Batoyan, especially in the enlarged communities, residents should be convinced that the new transport route or the new car park should be accessible and convenient for everyone – persons with disabilities, elderly people, parents with strollers, etc.
In her co-report, Lilit Stepanyan, member of the Standing Committee on Labor and Social Affairs, presented the positive conclusion of the Committee. According to her, the draft is important from the point of view of improving the lives of people with disabilities. The deputy urged to vote for the draft.
The draft law on Making Amendments and Addenda to the Labor Code of the Republic of Armenia authored by Zaruhi Batoyan was also debated in the second reading. It refers to the protection of the labor rights of persons with disabilities.
In her co-report, the deputy Mariam Poghosyan voiced the positive conclusion of the Standing Committee on Labor and Social Affairs on the initiative.
The position of the Government on the draft was also positive.
The debated initiatives were adopted in the second reading.
