On February 25, the RA NA Vice President, the NA Acting President Hakob Arshakyan introduced the Human Rights Defender Kristinne Grigoryan to the Ombudsman’s Staff on the occasion of passing to the exercise of new Human Rights Defender’s authorities.
Hakob Arshakyan welcomed the representatives of the Human Rights Defender’s Staff and noted that after the 2018 revolution, important changes were made in the human rights, democracy, the exercise of citizens’ suffrage, as well as in the judiciary system in Armenia.
According to Hakob Arshakyan, the current political power advocates the establishment of a democratic system in Armenia, the protection of human rights, the fair and transparent exercise of suffrage, as well as reforms and development of the judiciary system. In this context, the Vice President of the National Assembly highlighted the professional, impartial activity of the Ombudsman and her office.
Hakob Arshakyan emphasized that Kristinne Grigoryan is endowed with best human qualities, is impartial and responsible for her work. The NA Deputy Speaker congratulated Grigoryan on being elected and wished her success in the further work for the benefit of our state and protection of human rights.
Kristinne Grigoryan thanked the NA Acting President Hakob Arshakyan for introducing her. The newly elected Human Rights Defender noted that there are still works to do for the development and the continuous establishment of the Institute. Taking into account the fact that the Human Rights Defender of Armenia is elected by the supreme legislative body of the country, Kristinne Grigoryan stressed the importance of the effective cooperation with the legislative body.
