Speech by RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on Created Situation in RA
1 / 1

At midnight, the armed forces of Azerbaijan launched offensive actions in the direction of the Republic of Armenia: in four directions, later on two-three directions were added. Azerbaijan tries to present that those actions have been in response to the Armenian side’s provocations. We should definitely record that that information is absolutely fake, false and does not correspond to the reality. The RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said about this at September 13 regular sitting of the National Assembly.

“At this time, we have 49 victims confirmed by the Ministry of Defense. We should record that our soldiers, officers, our army fought selflessly, heroically. Paying tribute to our fallen soldiers and officers, I will underline that our statehood, our independence and sovereignty is based on that human kind. And as there are such people, who at the decisive moment are ready to put their own lives in danger, up to sacrifice their lives for the Motherland, it means that the Republic of Armenia has and will have sovereignty, the Armenian statehood will be, it will be lasting, and the RA people will be able to be proud of their sons,” the RA Prime Minister said.

As the Prime Minister presented, by this moment the intensity of military actions has decreased, however in one-two directions the aggressive actions continue. The Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia, the General Staff are assessing the situation, losses and the adjusted information will be officially released.

According to Nikol Pashinyan, at receiving the information on the attack a Security Council session was held: the consultation and the discussion continued until dawn, where the RA President, the NA President took part. A decision was made to address the CSTO, and regarding that address the sitting of the CSTO Permanent Council took place. The RA also addressed the Russian Federation on the basis of the Treaty on Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance. A decision was also made to address the UN Security Council for urgently discussing the situation. The RA Prime Minister had telephone conversations with the RF President, the President of France, the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the U.S. Secretary of State and the President of the European Council. The Minister of Defense had a talk with his RF colleague, and these directions work is done to stabilize the situation as quick as possible.

The RA Prime Minister once again stressed that all the claims that the RA Armed Forces resorted to some provocations and the actions of Azerbaijan had been in response to the actions of the Armenian Armed Forces, absolutely do not correspond to the reality.

According to the Prime Minister, the created situation, first of all, is connected with the Karabakh issue negotiation process, presenting it in detail.
