Final Phase of the Second Republican Recitation Contest-Festival Held under the Patronage of the NA Speaker Ends

The Children-Youth Republican Recitation Contest-Festival was held under the patronage of the NA Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan within the framework of Open Doors about six months, which this time was dedicated to the 125th birth anniversary of the Armenian well-known poet Vahan Terian. We’ll note that the aim of the festival is to try to focus on the young generation to the Armenian literature, support the renaissance of love towards the Armenian language and poetry in the upcoming generation, make continuous the rich traditions of the Armenian recitation. First time the Recitation Contest-Festival was held in 2009.

This year the contest-festival was held in three phases: in 11-14 and 15-17 age groups. Last year about 6000 schoolchildren took part in the contest-festival. This year more than 21.000 students from the marzes of Armenia, Javakhk and Artsakh schools took part in the contest-festival.

On December 15 at Yerevan Mushegh Ishkhan School from 80 schoolchildren, who took part at the final phase of the Children-Youth Republican Recitation Contest-Festival by the jury (the Honourable Chairman was the NA Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan, the Chairman was the Chair of the NA Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Sport and Youth Artak Davtyan) 18 participants of 11-14 and 15-17 age groups were recognized winners, who on December 16 took part in the gala-concert at Yerevan Gabriel Sundukian State National Academic Theatre. RA NA Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan, NA Vice Speakers Samvel Nikoyan and Samvel Balasanyan, Navasard Archbishop Ktchoyan, deputies, governors and other officials attended the gala concert.

Songs written in words of Vahan Terian sounded in the gala concert, and the participant schoolchildren, who represented the marzes of Armenia, Artsakh and Javakhk recited his works.

In his word RA NA deputy Tachat Vardapetyan addressed words of gratitude to RA NA Speaker, who with his attitude and initiative could make 21000 schoolchildren be in touch with the poetry of Vahan Terian.

In two age groups 3 best participants were awarded first, second and third prizes. Prizes of encouragement were also handed. The student of Balahovit secondary school of Kotayk marz Serine Mkrtchyan received special prize of the NA Speaker (notebook computer).

Handing the prizes the NA Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan said: “I am very proud that the Recitation Contest-Festival succeeded. We can record that it succeded due to the efforts of all of us.” Hovik Abrahamyan thanked all the festival participants, the jury, the teachers of the Armenian language and literature and the organizers.

In the NA Speaker’s words: “Organizing the Recitation Contest-Festival, we succeded to spread love to Armenian poetry, Armenian literature in Armenia, Artsakh and Javakhk. We’ll do our best in order the teachers would restore love to the Armenian literature, poetry in the schoolchildren.” Hovik Abrahamyan noted that the festival should be continuous expressing conviction that it would become a tradition. He considered characteristic that the schollchildren not only from Yerevan, but also from other marzes, Javakhk, Artsakh too part in the festival, and 21000 families spoke about poetry, Armenian literature. “This is the result of the contribution of all of us, the achievemnt of all of us,” the NA Speaker gave his assessment considering the festival one more opportunity, occasion to strengthen love to the Armenian literature. The two participants, who won the first places received a computer and books, those, who won the second places – home cinema and books, the third place winners - television and books. The schoolchildren, who enjoyed prizes of encouragement were handed books and DVD players.
