Arevik Petrosyan, Vice President of the National Assembly, Receives the Delegation of the Programme of “International Parliamentary Scholarship”

On October 6, Vice President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Ms. Arevik Petrosyan, head of the Armenia-Germany Parliamentary Friendship Group, received the delegation of the programme of “International Parliamentary Scholarship 2010.” Ms. Lydia Westrich, Parliament Member of Bundestag of the Federal Republic of Germany and Dr. Uwe Jens Nagel, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture and Horticulture, Chair of Agricultural Extension and Communication Sciences at the Humboldt University of Berlin and Mr. Prosper Schücking were on the delegation.

Mr. Hans-Jochen Schmidt, newly appointed German extraordinary and plenipotentiary Ambassador to Armenia and Mrs. Melanie Moltmann, Deputy Head of Mission, also participated in the meeting.

Issues related to the process and choice of new participants of the programme of “International Parliamentary Scholarship” were discussed during the meeting.

Ms. Lydia Westrich, on behalf of the participant scholars of the programme, thanked Ms. Petrosyan for the promotion, highlighted the choice of one more scholar from the Armenian part and expressed her contentment for the high level of the Armenian applicants.

According to Ms. Petrosyan it is very important issue that skills and experience, of the Armenian scholars in Bundestag in Germany, to make the work of the Armenian Parliament more productive and proposed to organize “round tables” within the framework of the programme and the participant representatives of the parliaments of many countries, with the exchange of their experience will promote the development of the inter-parliamentary relations. The Vice President of the National Assembly also proposed the representative of the National Assembly to participate in the events and discussions of the German side.

Ms. Westrich gladly accepted the proposals and expressed hope that after the discussion of those issues in the Parliament of the Germany, they would get a positive solution.

Other issues related to strengthening of inter-school and inter high educational ties, teaching of German, further development of the parliamentary relations, present process of Armenian-Turkish relations as well as other issues of mutual interest were discussed during the meeting.
