On January 26, the President of the RA National Assembly Alen Simonyan took part in the solemn reception dedicated to the 75^th anniversary of National Day of the Republic of India in Armenia.

Welcoming the attendees, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to Armenia Nilakshi Saha Sinha thanked Alen Simonyan for paying tribute to their special day and attending as a chief guest.

In his opening speech, the NA President warmly congratulated Madame Ambassador, the Staff of the Embassy, the Indian community in Armenia and the friendly Indian people on the occasion of Republic Day of India and noted that democracy and constitutionality are laid in the basis of centuries-old friendship of the peoples of two countries.

Alen Simonyan mentioned that the Armenian-Indian friendship has a centuries-old history and the relations between our countries have been built on those traditions.

“Today, we witness the great cooperation with friendly India. We give love and respect towards our Indian sisters and brothers, who moved to the Republic of Armenia,” the NA President underscored.

The Head of Parliament added that the political dialogue between Armenia and India have been strengthened in recent years and is of the most important significance. A new momentum has been given to trade, new volumes and successes have been registered in the spheres of education, science, culture and other ones.

“We also essentially highlight the contacts in the parliamentary diplomacy. We are ready to activate the bilateral inter-parliamentary relations,” the NA President said.

Ending his speech, Alen Simonyan stressed that in the rapidly changing world with joint efforts we’ll be able to reinforce the close cooperation between Armenia and India, to expand our cooperation in different formats and to essentially improve the relations between the two countries.

On the occasion of historical jubilee, the NA President once again congratulated the friendly Indian people, wishing them prosperity and progress in all fields.
