Deputy Rustam Bakoyan Visits Arevut and Kanch Yazidi Communities
1 / 16

The deputy of the NA Civil Contract Faction Rustam Bakoyan regularly visits his compatriots residing in different marzes of Armenia, gets acquainted with their problems and discusses the possible ways of their solution.

On November 11, the deputy again visited Arevut enlarged Yazidi community, which include Arevut, Kanch, Ddmasar, Tlik, Hako and Sorik settelements. Rustam Bakoyan has been in Arevut and Kanch basic schools and in Arevut village community centre and got familiarized with the issues concerning the residents. They are almost of the same content in all settlements of the enlarged community. According to the inhabitants, the inter-community roads need to be improved, as well as the issue of the drinking and irrigation water is necessary to solve.

Without giving a turn to each other, the residents of Kanch noted that if Tatul-Kanch-Hako inter-community road is repaired, then many problems will be solved by itself. The length of Tatul-Kanch-Hako inter-community road is only 12.1 km, the length of Hatsashen-Sorik, other road - 5.1 km needs repairing.

Numerous problems emerged because of water scarcity and roads being rough: people leave their birthplaces, the number of marriages and pupils also decreased. 11 pupils study in Arevut School, and 9 – in Kanch. There was no even first-class pupil in Arevut this year.

As one of the residents of Kanch community figuratively noted, there are three things for not leaving the village: water, road and marriage of young people. Many of the young people cannot marry in these villages, as the girls don’t want to come as brides from neighbouring villages. The reason is considered to be the abovementioned problems. Both in Arevut and Kanch schools the main problem is the issue of the repairing of the roofs. The roofs of two schools are in miserable condition. The classrooms are in rough state, there are no sport halls.

In six enlarged settlements, and its administrative centre is Arevut, there is need of having also a secondary school.

“The problems are many and deep in the communities. The solution of the raised problems of these communities is very important for me, because the Yazidi communities are mainly getting empty. If the village does not get empty, then more than 200 farms would be here, in Kanch village, but now there are about 10 farms. This is a serious problem for us. In case of solving the problems, we will be able to keep the population in the villages,” Rustam Bakoyan thinks.
