Supreme Judicial Council Nominates Gevorg Gyozalyan, Vahe Rafayelyan and Lusine Avagyan for Vacant Position of Judge of Judicial Composition in Civil Cases of Anti-Corruption Chamber of Court of Cassation

The issue of the election of a candidate nominated for the vacant position of a judge of the judicial composition in civil cases of the Anti-Corruption Chamber of the Court of Cassation was debated at the NA extraordinary sitting convened on June 27.

The Supreme Judicial Council nominated the candidates Lusine Avagyan, Gevorg Gyozalyan and Vahe Rafayelyan for the above-mentioned position.

Davit Khachaturyan, a member of the Supreme Judicial Council, presented the biographical data and the passed path of the candidates.

The candidate Vahe Rafayelyan presented his vision on emerging new specialized anti-corruption courts, the important role and mission of the supreme judicial instance in the field of justice, as well as the grounds and reasons for his application for a high and responsible position in that composition of judges.

According to the candidate, the basis for submitting his candidacy for that position is the existence of necessary and sufficient resources of scientific and theoretical knowledge accumulated and developed during the last 20 years, as well as certain experience, skills and abilities gained in the practical work. Vahe Rafayelyan assured that in case he is authorized by the National Assembly, he will fulfill the constitutional mission of a judge of supreme judicial instance with honor, for the benefit of the people and for the glory of the Republic of Armenia.

Gevorg Gyozalyan, noting that justice is a tool to achieve justice, presented his vision of justice and truth. “It is the truth that will give me the strength to establish and proclaim justice through. The vast majority of our justice must establish and proclaim justice. Only the proclamation of justice will justify the existence and viability of the justice system, and as a result, the person will be protected in the Republic of Armenia,” he said. Gevorg Gyozalyan underlined that the shadow justice should not have a place in the RA.

The candidate Lusine Avagyan was not present at the extraordinary sitting.

The National Assembly will continue the work of the extraordinary session on June 28 at 11:00.
