At February 3 regular sitting, the NA Standing Committee on Defense and Security in the second reading debated the draft law on Making Addenda to the law on Compensation of Losses Caused to the Serviceman’s Life or Health during the defense of the Republic of Armenia.

The author proposes to stipulate that the financial compensation designed by the Servicemen’s Insurance Fund to the servicemen, who died during the RA defense, and don’t have parents, wife or children, will be equally distributed between the serviceman’s brother and sister. If there are brothers or sisters, in this case also the compensation shall be equally given.

Compensation is designed also for a person, who has a child with the killed serviceman. The divorced wife having a child with the killed serviceman cannot be considered a beneficiary.

The author accepted some proposals submitted by the Government. As a result of voting, the draft law was endorsed. It will be included in the draft agenda of the NA upcoming regular sittings.
