Agreement on Information Cooperation Related to Competence of Internal Affairs Bodies of Armenia and Russia Debated

At November 30 regular sitting, moderated by Andranik Kocharyan, the RA NA Standing Committee on Defense and Security debated the draft law on Ratifying the Agreement on Information Cooperation and Electronic Information Exchange on issues related to Competence of Internal Affairs Bodies of the Police of the Republic of Armenia and the Russian Federation between the Government of the Republic of Armenia and the Government of the Russian Federation.

The RA Deputy Head of Police Ara Fidanyan has noted that the agreement signed in May 2021 on the use of electronic means in the information exchange will facilitate the cooperation between the law enforcement agencies of the two states. The competent authorities will provide and receive the information available in their proceedings via electronic means. According to the Deputy Head of Police, information containing state secrets will be not exchanged.

The co-rapporteur, the member of the Committee Armen Khachatryan underlined the importance of the agreement within the framework of the information exchange and cooperation between the law enforcement agencies of the two countries.

The deputies voted for the draft law.

The parliamentarians debated and endorsed the draft law on Making Addendum to the Law on State Border submitted for debate in the second reading and the legislative package on Making Amendments and Addenda to the Law on RA Citizen’s Passport. After the first reading, proposals were not presented on the legislative initiatives.
