Protocol Designing Amendments in the Agreement on Cooperation and Mutual Aid in the Customs Cases

At October 20 sitting of the RA NA Standing Committee on Economic Affairs, the item on Ratifying the Protocol on Amending the Agreement of 15 April 1994 on Cooperation and Mutual Aid in the Customs Cases authored by the Government was debated.

According to the key rapporteur the Deputy Chairman of the RA State Revenue Committee Ashot Muradyan, the protocol was signed in Dushanbe in 2018, aiming at raising the efficiency of cooperation between the customs services and regulate the information and methodic base of the international cooperation.

According to the rapporteur, the goal of the Agreement is to promote the development and the acceleration of the passenger and freight communication through customs bodies’ cooperation pf the participant states of the Agreement.

Within the framework of the document the cooperation and the mutual aid will be implemented to improve the order of regulating the customs relations related to the move of the goods and transportation means via customs border, the provision of the customs legislation, preventing, disclosing and examining the customs breaches, exchange of experience of carrying out the customs work in different directions.

As Ashot Muradyan has informed, articles have been added in the document to be approved by the protocol, which regulate the issues concerning the organization of the questionnaires between the customs bodies.

The protocol was signed with reservations by our country, according to which, the obligations and the rights of the Armenian side will not spread on Azerbaijan.

The Committee approved the initiative.
