On September 28, the Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs Taguhi Tovmasyan met with the Delegation headed by the Director of the International Republican Institute (IRI) James De Witt.

According to James De Witt, the IRI had a number of realistic plans for the cooperation with the National Assembly of Armenia. The Head of the Delegation spoke about the courses of the Committee experts, the programmes directed to the continuous training of the staff and development of work abilities. The issues related to the perspective cooperation were discussed.

Taguhi Tovmasyan evaluated the efforts of the IRI to support democratic processes. Both sides highlighted the need for the cooperation in the legislative process and the scope of opportunities for the implementation of joint steps to develop legislative initiatives was clarified.

An agreement was reached to discuss the relevant programmes promoting the solution of problems set before the committee in the near future.
