On August 6, the Parliament debated the item on the elections of the Chairs of the Standing Committees of the National Assembly. As the NA President presented, pursuant to Article 138 of the Constitutional Law – the Rules of Procedure of the National Assembly, the factions have the right to nominate candidates for the offices for the Chairs of the Standing Committees and their Deputy Chairs. The right to nominate candidates from the composition of the deputies for the offices for the Chairs of the Standing Committees and their Deputy Chairs is distributed among the factions in accordance with the coefficient obtained for each office, which is calculated by the D’Hondt method. As a result of the calculation of the mentioned method, the right to nominate candidates for the offices for the Chairs of 12 Committees was distributed among the factions by the following proportionality.
The Civil Contract Faction will nominate the Chairs of 9 Standing Committees, and the Armenia Faction - 3 Committees.
According to Hayk Konjoryan, the Civil Contract Faction will nominate candidates for the offices for the Chairs of the Committees in the compositions of the Standing Committees on State and Legal Affairs, on Defense and Security, on Foreign Relations, on Financial-Credit and Budgetary Affairs, on Territorial Administration, Local-Self Government, Agriculture and Environment, on Science, Education, Culture, Diaspora, Youth and Sport, on European Integration, on Labor and Social Affairs and on Health Care.
As Seyran Ohanyan introduced, the Armenia Faction will nominate candidates for the offices for the Chairs of the Committees in the compositions of the Standing Committees on Economic Affairs, on Regional and Eurasian Integration and on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs.
The National Assembly will continue the debate of the item on August 9.
