Robbery cases decreased in the financial year too: 39 cases were recorded compared to 62 of the previous year. 1258 burglary cases were recorded, 400 less from 2019. Preventive measures undertaken by us also had a positive impact on the decrease of the volumes. Murder cases increased by three times in 2020.

Davtyan underlined that the most important achievement is the reduction of property crimes, as the burglary cases have been especially significant during the last ten years.

In terms of negative dynamics, the rapporteur distinguished the increase of the crimes against human, in particular the crimes committed with the use of firearms.

“The fight against corruption continued to remain our priority. About 1356 persons were criminally prosecuted during 2020,” Davtyan said. According to him, damage of about 227 bln AMD caused to the state by corruption crimes were revealed.

According to the data of the World Population Assessment international independent organization, Armenia ranks 12th in the world with crime cases on a scale of 0 to 100 indices.

In 2020, the increase of volumes for insults, hate speech and aggression was noticeable.

The rapporteur has assured that in our country the level of crime is controllable and relevant bodies control the situation.

The RA Prosecutor General Artur Davtyan answered to the deputies’ questions. They were related to the decrease of the number of crimes in 2020, cases caused on the basis of calls for violence, the lawsuits in cases of confiscation of illegal property, arrested persons – cases of release due to absence of corpus delicti, the cases of the RA Second President Robert Kocharyan and others’ cases.
