RA NA Delegation Meets with Members of Inter-Parliamentary Committee on Cooperation of Armenia and Cyprus

On July 4, the delegation led by the President of the RA National Assembly Ararat Mirzoyan being in Cyprus on an official visit met with the members of the Inter-Parliamentary Committee on Cooperation of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia and the House of Representatives of the Republic of Cyprus: the Head of the Committee Yiorgos Lilikas and the Deputy Head Nicos Tornaritis.

Welcoming the delegation led by the NA President the Cypriot side has noted that the ties between the two peoples and states come from the depth of the centuries and distinguish with peculiar warmth, common history and value of systems. The parties especially highlighted the existing format of Armenia-Cyprus parliamentary close cooperation and underlined the perspectives. Both sides touched upon the activity of the Armenian community living in Cyprus.

Ararat Mirzoyan expressed his gratitude to the members of the Committee for being next to our country in all issues of principle concerning Armenia and withstanding together the challenges facing the two states. The President of the National Assembly has wished the Committee every success in its further works, stating that after the last parliamentary elections held in Armenia new horizons open in the latter’s activity.

The Chairman of Armenia-Cyprus Inter-parliamentary Committee from the Armenian side Mkhitar Hayrapetyan indicated three main directions of foreign policy between the two countries: European, Eurasian and Near Eastern, in the frameworks of which the Committee members would form their main work. Mkhitar Hayrapetyan emphasized the role of Cyprus in the RA-EU relations, as well as the role of Armenia as an effective bridge of cooperation with the EEU countries.
