Issues on Development of Armenian-Finnish Parliamentary Relations Discussed

On April 8, the representatives of the RA NA Armenia-Finland Friendship Group met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Finland to Armenia Arja Makkonen.

The Head of the Group Gevorg Gorgisyan considered important the study of the rich experience of democracy and parliamentary traditions. In terms of developing and deepening the bilateral friendly relations he considered necessary the holding of Days of Finland in our country, the organization of the business forums for creating a platform of cooperation between the businessmen of the two countries.

The Ambassador of Finland to Armenia congratulated the Armenian people on the occasion of holding fair and transparent parliamentary elections. He also considered the development of the inter-parliamentary cooperation. The Ambassador informed that on April 14 parliamentary elections would be held in Finland, after which Friendship Group with Armenia would be formed. Touching upon the ratification of the RA-EU Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement by the Parliament of Finland, Arja Makkonen assured that the document would be signed by the President soon and would be ratified after the parliamentary elections.

In terms of creation of the new ways of deepening and cooperation of the existing bilateral ties the sides also highlighted the mutual visits between the parliamentarians. In this context the Head of the Friendship Group evaluated the study of the 100th anniversary parliamentary experience of Finland.

At the guest’s request Gevorg Gorgisyan presented the main priorities of our country’s agenda after the revolution, particularly fight against corruption and economic reforms.
