At Sittings of RA NA Standing Committees

On February 25, the RA NA Standing Committees convened sittings.

At the sitting of the RA NA Standing Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs moderated by Naira Zohrabyan the draft law on Addenda to the RA Law on Trade Unions authored by the RA NA deputies Gevorg Petrosyan, Nora Arustamyan, Vardan Ghukasyan, Artur Grigoryan and Hrant Madatyan was debated.

The co-author of the draft Gevorg Petrosyan noted that the goal of the trade unions should be the real protection of the employees’ interests and no danger would threaten the trade unions acting by this draft law.

The MPs’ questions related to the independence of the trade unions, the expediency of creating alternative trade unions, the execution of the right to strike, the protection of the employees’ rights, the specification of the trade unions’ functions, the issuance of the commercial secret, the necessity of making conceptual amendments for strengthening the trade unions and other problems concerning the specification of the working relations.

In his speech the RA Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Arman Udumyan substantiated the negative conclusion of the government.

According to the Committee Chair Naira Zohrabyan, now the trade unions don’t function, and revolutionary steps are necessary in the sphere.

As a result of voting, with 4 for and 5 against the debated draft law did not enjoy the endorsement.

On the same day at the sitting of the RA NA Standing Committee on Defense and Security moderated by Andrnaik Kocharyan considered the bill on Amending the RA Law on the Citizens Who Had not Passes Compulsory Military Service by the Violation of the Established Order.

The responsible of the RA Ministry of Diaspora Babken Ter-Girgoryan informed that the government endorsed the legislative initiative.

In the opinion of the Committee Chair Andranik Kocharyan, the legislative and executive authorities, the NGOs should jointly find such a solution in order all the citizens being in search return to the Motherland.

As a result of debate, the MPs endorsed the draft law for including the draft laws of the agendas of the session and the upcoming regular sittings.
