On February 27, the representatives of the fractions of the National Assembly, for the journalists, accredited in the parliament, summed up the work of the four-day sittings of February 23-26 of the fifth session of the National Assembly of the fourth convocation. The issues were related to the election of alderman and major, which will take place in May, to the published reports of the law enforcement organization “Human Rights Watch” on the level of democracy in Armenia and the US State Department, related to the rally which will take place on March 1st , to Armenia-Georgian relations and etc.
Talking on the format of the participation of the election of alderman and major, Mr. Armen Martirosyan, Head of the Heritage faction, said that it was possible during the negotiations for the oppositional front to decide to participate in the elections of alderman with joint candidate.
Touching upon the reports, published by the “Human Rights Watch” on the level of democracy in Armenia and the US State Department, Mr. Armen Martirosyan, Head of the Heritage faction said that the report once again confirms the fact that Armenia has a false direction.
Talking on the issue of the participation in the elections for the offices of alderman and mayor, Ms. Heghineh Bisharyan said that every political force would participate in the elections separately. Mr. Hrayr Karapetyan, member of the ARF faction, presented the works of the third meeting of the inter-parliamentary commission, which took place in Minsk on February 23-25, between the cooperation of the parliament of the Republic of Armenia and the parliament of the Republic of Belarus. The cooperation in international offices of the two countries and the energetics mutual cooperation between the two countries were also one of the agenda issues. Mr. Karapetyan said that Mr. Hovik Abrahamyan, President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia would leave for Minsk in June, and in October the Belarus delegation will arrive in Armenia. A meeting of Armenia- Belarus inter-government commission is expected and days of Armenian culture would be held in Belarus this year. Mr. Hrayr Karapetyan said that the members of the Armenian delegation also met with the representatives of the Armenian community in Belarus.
Mr. Hrayr Karapetyan said that the Armenian Revolutionary Federation considers the election of alderman and mayor as political elections and would take active part in it, but the electoral list of the ARF was not decided yet.
Mr. Aram Safaryan, secretary of the PAP faction also
touched upon the reports of “Human Rights Watch,” saying that issues, well known in the political agenda of Armenia, were expressed.
Mr. Galust Sahakyan, head of the RPA faction touching upon the elections for the offices of alderman and mayor in May, said that the list of the RPA faction was not distinct yet.
Mr. Galust Sahakyan said that he has not studied the reports of “Human Rights Watch,” in detail yet.
