In accordance with the regulations functioning of the Electoral Code, the Control-Audit Service carries out control towards the payments, expenditures and their accounting being made by pre-electoral foundations. Pursuant to the amendments made to the law in 2021, the part 1 of Article 29 of the Electoral Code, which will enter into force from January 1, 2023, has changed, as a result of which, the RA Corruption Prevention Commission should carry out the abovementioned functions in future. The deputy Arpine Davoyan said about this, presenting the bill on Making Addendum to the Constitutional Law the RA Electoral Code and the package of the enclosed presented bills authored by her and the deputy Alkhas Ghazaryan at the NA extraordinary sitting.
According to the co-author, related to the mentioned problem the debates continue. In the near future, electoral reforms are designed, thus it is proposed to postpone the enforcement of Article 22 of the Electoral Code adopted in 2021, and regulate the issue of giving final solution to the problems within the framework of those reforms.
The initiative authored by Arpine Davoyan and Alkhas Ghazaryan was debated in the first reading on November 24.
As the RA Deputy Minister of Justice Armenuhi Harutyunyan informed, the Government has no proposals and considerations on the initiative and urged the MPs to vote for it.
