On October 28 the National Assembly continued the work of the four-day sittings.

At the beginning of the sitting by the proposal of the NA Speaker Galust Sahakyan the deputies welcomed the teachers and the pupils of the Senior School N 1 of the town of Hrazdan of Kotayk marz, who visited the parliament within the framework of the “Open Doors” programme.

Afterwards the parliament in the first reading continued debating the package of the draft laws “On Amending the RA Electoral Code” and “On Amending the RA Law on Identity Cards” authored by the NA deputies Hovhannes Sahakyan, Artak Davtyan, Gagik Minasyan and Gagik Melikyan.

The deputies addressed numerous questions to the key speaker Hovhannes Sahakyan, which mainly related to the participation of the citizens with the identity cards with separate lists to the election, the strengthening of the mechanisms of trust and control, the importance of stamps and double voting.

The member of the NA Standing Committee Vahram Mkrtchyan submitted the endorsement of the Committee. By the deputy’s observation, if the citizens could take part in the elections with identity cards, then their constitutional right will be violated.

The NA Deputy Speaker Hermine Naghdalyan has informed that the RA Government has not objections on the draft law.

The NA deputies Naira Zohrabyan, Heghine Bisharyan, Lyudmila Sargsyan, Mher Shahgeldyan, Hovhannes Margaryan, Khachatur Kokobelyan, Aghvan Vardanyan, Hrant Bagratyan presented their viewpoints and recommendations on the draft law.

In accordance with the law the NA Rules of Procedure, at the last sitting the members of the Government answered the deputies’ questions.
