Galust Sahakyan and Sergey Narishkin Discuss Issues Regarding the Bilateral and Multilateral Relations

In Geneva the NA Speaker Galust Sahakyan and the Speaker of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Sergey Narishkin discussed issues regarding the Armenian-Russian bilateral friendly and multilateral diplomatic relations.

On October 19 during the visit in Geneva, within the framework of the 133rd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, Galust Sahakyan met with Sergey Narishkin.

In his word the RA NA Speaker has noted that Armenia greatly highlights the expansion of cooperation with the Russian Federation in all spheres, including in parliamentary format, as in the harmonization of the national legislations and the formation of the firm legal bases of the integration processes the inter-parliamentary cooperation has a great role.

Galust Sahakyan has documented that the cooperation with the friendly countries is developing at regularly basis. Talking about multilateral cooperation, the NA Speaker particularly underlined: “It is necessary to expand and deepen the cooperation of the two countries in the international structures. Once again I reaffirm our readiness to continue the effective cooperation at the international parliamentary platforms for the benefit of our countries.” Galust Sahakyan has also stated that Armenia is for Russia’s proposal to make the Russian language in the Inter-Parliamentary Union official or working language.

Speaking about the Karabakh problem, Galust Sahakyan has informed Sergey Narishkin that Azerbaijan continues violating the ceasefire regime. The Head of the RA Parliament expressed his concern that Azerbaijan began using heavier military technique.

“We, the politicians, maybe understand why Russia does not response harsher to the actions of Azerbaijan, however the Armenian society, which accepts Russia as a brotherly state, has other expectations,” Galust Sahakyan noted in his speech.

Sergey Narishkin thanked his counterpart for the meeting and support.

Talking about the mutually beneficial cooperation at international platforms, the Head of the RF State Duma expressed confidence that it would continue and more develop. Referring to the Nagorno Karabakh problem, Sergey Narishkin has stated that the great wish of Russia is to hurriedly solve the Karabakh problem exclusively through peaceful means, and the Armenian-Azerbaijani relations get improved as much as possible.

Sergey Narishkin also talked about the Russian actions in Syria and noted that the appropriate measures taken by Russia had already given positive results.
