On October 8 in the National Assembly the press conference of the Head of the RA NA Delegation to Parliamentary Assembly of La Francophonie (APF) Margarit Yesayan was held on “Holding of the 31^st Session of the Conference of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the International Organisation of La Francophonie.” The NA deputy, the Head of the RA NA Delegation to Parliamentary Assembly of La Francophonie (APF) Margarit Yesayan has informed that about 500 delegates from 80 countries of the world, 5 continents, who represent the International Organisation of La Francophonie will be in Armenia on October 9-11. On that occasion the Secretary General of the International Organisation of La Francophonie Michaëlle Jean will also visit Armenia, who, most probably, will be hosted also in the parliament. Mrs Yesayan has informed that in the history of independent Armenia there has not ever been such a big representational Assembly. “Due to the consistent work of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of our country and Minister Nalbandian the Summit of the International Organisation of La Francophonie still last year made a decision to entrust Armenia holding Ministerial Conference in 2015,” noted the deputy.

The Head of the Delegation highly assessed the contribution and efforts of the RA President Serzh Sargsyan and the RA Minister of Foreign Affairs Edward Nalbandian in the organisation of the conference. The deputy emphasized that the conference is held in Yerevan and especially in 2015 during the 100^th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. “The International Organisation of La Francophonie is an organisation where twice a resolution was adopted, according to which, where at the level of the heads of the member states of the International Organisation of La Francophonie they show their full support to the efforts being used by the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs on the settlement of the Karabakh conflict, which coincides with the position of our country. Thanks to the consistent activities of our diplomacy the resolutions were adopted in the conditions when numerous countries join the organisation, which are also members of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation and the Countries of the Non-Aligned Movement. In fact, within the framework of La Francophonie they also expressed a position, which fully reflects the approach of our country. I consider this and other steps victories of the foreign policy of our country,” said the Head of the Delegation.

In Margarit Yesayan’s word, since 2008 the relations with this international organisation have been much more deepened and activated, as Armenia also highlighted this international platform in the new guideline of its foreign policy. “Armenia as much will be perceivable, understandable and open for the international structures, so its problems will be reachable, perceivable and soluble due to friendly attitude,” noted the deputy Margarit Yesayan.

Continuing about the positive features of the Assembly, Mrs Yesayan has noticed that it will also be beneficial for Armenia with financial and touristic respect.
