Visiting Sitting of the RA NA Standing Committee in Dilijan

On October 24 the NA Standing Committee on Economic Affairs jointly with the Support to the Armenian National Assembly Program (SANAP) held a visiting sitting in Dilijan for clarification of the amendments made to the RA Law “On Turnover Tax.” The NA deputies, representatives of the relevant authorized body of the Government, experts, assistants and those responsible for the sphere took part in the sitting. The provisions of the RA Law “On Turnover Tax” entered into force from October 1, 2014, the problems of the Small and Medium Entrepreneurship (SME) sphere and the entities’ concerns were thoroughly discussed at the sitting.

The Chairman of the RA NA Standing Committee on Economic Affairs Vardan Ayvazyan in his opening word touched upon the amendments passed recently in the SME tax legislation and expressed hope that as a result of today’s discussion based on the remarks of the entities and the specialists of the sphere, it will be possible to submit recommendations to the Government, which will more ease the activities of the SME in terms of legislative practice.

The RA Deputy Minister of Finance Vakhtang Pirumyan noted that the initiative had been widely discussed with the specialists of the sphere and the NGOs. Mr Mirumyan assured that the Government will continue to implement works of awareness on the draft law, take steps which will give opportunity to reach the process till the end without shocks. Vakhtang Mirumyan also touched upon the legislation of Georgia in the tax sphere and the reforms made in the system.

The NA deputies and the entities in their interpellations and speeches referred to the problems of practical use of the legislative amendments passed in the tax sphere, the decrease of the volumes of shadow economy, the conditions of the activities of the small and medium entities, the administration being implemented by the state towards the big entities and other issues.

Summing up the discussions, the Committee Chairman Vardan Ayvazyan thanked for concerned participation and expressed willingness to continuously hold such discussions. He urged the participants of the discussion to submit their recommendations in written form, which will be considered and in case of being admissible will be included in the draft law to be elaborated.
