On October 16 in Geneva the RA National Assembly Deputy Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov, the Head of the Rule of Law Faction Heghine Bisharyan and the deputy of the Republican Faction Karine Atshemyan took part in the elections of the Inter-Parliamentary Union.
Saber Chowdhury, the Member of the Parliament of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, was elected in the President’s post. He received 169 votes out of 321. Bronwyn Bishop, the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of the Republic of Australia, and Nurhayati Assegaf, the Member of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of the Republic of Indonesia, correspondingly received 97 and 57 votes.
