Journalists Get familiarized with the Repairing Procedure of the NA Session Hall
1 / 3

On September 9 the journalists accredited in the parliament got familiarized with the repairing works of the session hall of the National Assembly. RA NA Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan, the NA Chief of Staff Gegham Gharibjanyan, architects Narek Sargsyan and Anahit Tarkhanyan met them in the hall.

The repairing works of NA session hall will be completed on September 25. The debate and the adoption of the laws will take place in the beautiful session hall equipped with modern technical means, where all possibilities are created for the journalists’ work. In general, 480mln drams have been spent for the implementation of the works, and they had already to be completed, but the technical means are a little late. Together with the hall the area adjacent to the hall will also get modern and well to do look. Two boxes have been built for special journalists. Two rooms will be for the journalists and one room for cameramen opposite them. There will be monitors in the rooms for the journalist in order they will follow the session, and they will be able to see the whole picture from the boxes. Before the completion of the repairing works the first four-day sittings will be held in Melik-Adamian 1. RA NA Speaker informed the journalist that he was pleased with the work done and promised that they would do their best in order their contact with the MPs would be easier.

In response to the question concerning the Armenian-Russian relations Hovik Abrahamyan noted that he positively referred to any rapprochement with that country: “We shall do our best in order to more strengthen our relations with Russia.”

The NA Speaker answered a number of questions being of interest for the journalists, which mainly related to the publications, rumours concerning him in this or that media.

In response to the question of Artur Baghdasaryan becoming Parliament Speaker in the next convocation in the National Assembly Hovik Abrahamyan said that in 2007 parliamentary elections the Republican Party of Armenia gained the majority of votes, as a result of which, it has been decided that Tigran Torosyan would lead the NA, then he, Hovik Abrahamyan has been elected. “I am sure that in 2012 the Republican Party will have majority of votes, and who will become the Parliament Speaker, the party and the chairman of the party will decide.”

The next question related to the news that “the tax bodies check as if in the enterprises belonging to Hovik Abrahamyan.” The NA Speaker answered that those were fabrications, as he himself had no such enterprises and urged his close friends to work fairly, and in that case one should neither fear the tax service, nor checking bodies.

Hovik Abrahamyan also refuted the conversations that as if he got the kindergarten of the police in Nalbandyan Street, and was going to construct an elite building. “In general, I neither have taken part in Yerevan in the construction of an elite building until now, nor there is such a programme that I should take part. This is just fabrication, and I would like to characterize it as a commission.” In this connection the NA Speaker said that he did not see any bad thing if anybody construct a building, but it was another issue, why “the real owners try to avoid showing their real face.” In Hovik Abrahamyan’s opinion “the relevant bodies know who are its authors.” Besides, according to him, it is very distinctly seen in the decision of the government.
