At the invitation of the Head of the RA NA delegation in the Parliamentary Assembly of Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Eduard Aghajanyan, the delegation led by the OSCE PA President Margareta Cederfelt arrived in Armenia.
The delegation includes the OSCE PA Special Representative on the South Caucasus Kari Henriksen, the OSCE Secretary General Roberto Montella, the Deputy Head of Vienna Office Tim Knoblau, the Adviser to the OSCE PA Secretary General Freyja Koci and the Assistant to the OSCE PA President Jonathan Demner.
On June 15, the Head of the Armenian delegation to the OSCE PA Eduard Aghajanyan, the members of the delegation Maria Karapetyan, Hripsime Grigoryan and Sargis Khandanyan met with the representatives of the delegation in parliament within the framework of the visit.
Welcoming the guests in parliament, Eduard Aghajanyan highly appreciated the role of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly in the development of inter-parliamentary dialogue.
The guests were interested in the developments in the region, got acquainted with the post-war situation, the processes taking place during that period.
The Armenian parliamentarians referred to the situation around Nagorno Karabakh, the humanitarian issues and stressed the need to resolve them.
In this context, the sides emphasized the importance of establishing lasting peace in the South Caucasus.
The NA deputies expressed confidence that the OSCE Minsk Group continues to be the only format with an international mandate for the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
The Armenian parliamentarians raised the issue of the return of prisoners of war held in Azerbaijan, expecting the support of the structure.
Margareta Cederfelt thanked for the warm reception. The OSCE PA President attached importance to the establishment of peace and stability in the region.
Issues related to cooperation within the framework of the structure were discussed at the meeting.
