On March 30, the CEC Chairman Tigran Mukuchyan presented the report on the activities of the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) for 2020-2021 at the sitting of the RA NA Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs.
During 2020-2021, in accordance with the requirements of the Electoral Code (EC), snap elections of the RA National Assembly and elections of the local self-government bodies in 58 communities were organized and held. 44 of the mentioned communities are enlarged communities. Tigran Mukuchyan noted that the CEC, as prescribed by law, presented the report on its activities related to the NA snap elections on June 20, 2021 to parliament in 2021.
In accordance with the requirements of the RA Constitutional Law on Referendum and the Electoral Code, the preparatory works for holding a referendum on the amendments to the RA Constitution also started in 2020. The referendum process was canceled 20 days before the voting day. Tigran Mukuchyan presented the work done by the CEC before the cancellation.
The rapporteur referred to the EC adopted in 2021, presenting the necessary program work done due to the new legal regulations.
Tigran Mukuchyan emphasized that the work done, program changes and solutions, the toolkit are aimed at improving the electoral process.
