Such Behaviour of Azerbaijan More Strengthens Positions of Armenia in the UN International Court: Vladimir Vardanyan
1 / 3

The deputies of the RA NA Civil Contract Faction Vladimir Vardanyan and Arman Yeghoyan took part in March 24 parliamentary briefing,

The briefing was held in Q & A session.

To the journalist’ s question why the RA does not take part in the neutralization of the security problems of Artsakh, Vladimir Vardanyan noted in response to this that during all these days the RA Government, the parliamentary diplomacy and the relevant structures on making all efforts to inform their international counterparts about the given situation and quickly resolving the problem as much as possible.

He reminded that at the Government sitting the RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan also touched upon that, noting that how such behavior could be conditioned, and the such ‘adventurism’ of Azerbaijan is directed to reaching to an end the policy of ethnic cleansing.

“We have spoken about this before the war, as well as during and after it that we don’t resolve territorial problems in Artsakh, it is about the peoples’ rights in Artsakh. And the behavior and the toolset that today Azerbaijan uses, in fact, more strengthens our positions, particularly, in the UN International Court, related to the serious violations of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination. All this, in essence, makes more substantial, visible that the problem in Artsakh is of existential character,” Vladimir Vardanyan said.

To the question whether Armenian side will not cross the so-called red lines in the relations with Turkey and Azerbaijan, the deputy of the NA Civil Contract Faction Arman Yeghoyan noted that when talking about red lines, one should remember when you once drew red lines, later you will not see more favorable conditions beyond those red lines.

“Diplomacy is an art of negotiation, it likes confidentiality to some extent, diplomacy is an art to avoid all types of escalations. If you try to extract clear lines from a diplomat, you will limit his/her opportunities to act in the future,” the deputy said.

Referring to 1991-1992, he noted that if the Armenian side had a more flexible position on the red lines at that time, rather than clear statements, perhaps today the RA diplomacy would be in a much better condition.

“I can assure you that the RA red lines on the settlement of Artsakh have not changed after 2018, the red lines expressed in the negotiation process have not changed after 2018,” Arman Yeghoyan stressed.
