On March 7, the RA NA Staff jointly with the Parliamentary Centre (Canada) organized a round table with the civil society organizations to discuss the issues of inclusiveness of the Corporative Strategic Plan being introduced by the NA Staff. Representatives of about 15 organizations being engaged with the issues of women, young people and inclusiveness of persons with disability were invited to the round table.
In his welcoming speech, the RA NA Chief of Staff, Secretary General Vahan Naribekyan has stressed that the meeting of such format is unique with its character and content. To his assessment, the Staff with introducing its Corporative Strategic Plan will turn to a new phase of development. The development of the human capacities is of key role in the Plan, focusing the attention also to the women, the young people and the persons with disabilities.
The Regional Director of the Parliamentary Centre (Canada) Ivo Balinov has noted that during the Corporate Strategic Development and the implementation of the Functional Programs revised in its bases, the NGOs have a great role in conveying their experience and knowledge to the NA Staff, promoting the development of the inclusiveness environment.
The Special Envoy of Canada to Armenia, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Federal Republic of Germany, the Special Envoy of Canada to the European Union and Europe Stéphane Dion gave a welcoming speech via video conference to the participants. Stéphane Dion has singled out the important potential of the civil society organizations that Armenia is on a path of democratic development, and similar initiatives more promote the strengthening of democracy.
The RA NA deputies Taguhi Tovmasyan, Heriknaz Tigranyan, Zaruhi Batoyan gave welcoming remarks. They highlighted and welcomed such initiative.
The Deputy Chief of Staff Heghine Khachikyan presented to the members of the civil society the main pillars of the Corporative Strategic Plan, emphasizing two of them – development of human capacities and more informed and involved citizens. It has been noted that these two pillars contain important components of inclusiveness, and for their development and deepening the round table was organized to create a new platform and firm link for the dialogue between the RA NA Staff and the civil society organizations.
The participants of the round table expressed readiness for supporting the Staff, organizing discussions over the issues of inclusiveness on the exchange of international experience and further steps. The sides reached an agreement to make such meetings regular.
