On August 16, the President of the RA National Assembly Alen Simonyan had a farewell meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to Armenia George Saganelidze. The latter completed his diplomatic mission in our country.

Welcoming the Ambassador, the Speaker of the Parliament highly assessed the relations existing between the Armenian and Georgian peoples and thanked George Saganelidze for the close work done in that direction during the diplomatic service. The NA President expressed hope that the cooperation would be continuous.

In his turn the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to Armenia thanked Alen Simonyan for mutually beneficial and effective cooperation.

George Saganelidze has underlined that the Armenian-Georgian cooperation is based on the two peoples’ centuries-old friendship, and Georgia emphasizes the mutually beneficial cooperation with our country. According to him, the two countries have great potential for developing those relations.

Alen Simonyan especially highlighted the mediation of the Georgian authorities on the return of Armenian prisoners of war and expressed hope that in future also Georgia would its assistance in that issue. In that context he stressed the issue of the establishment of peace in the region.

The Ambassador also attached importance to the factor of peace in the region. He noted that he was leaving our country with warm memories, remaining the friend of Armenia.
