On August 10, the work of the first session of the NA eighth convocation continued. The item of the election of the Chairs of the NA Standing Committees was on the agenda. According to the D’Hondt method, the Civil Contract Faction will nominate the Chairs of 9 NA Committees, and the Armenia Faction - 3.

The NA Armenia Faction nominated Vahe Hakobyan’s candidacy in the post of the Standing Committee on Economic Affairs.

The Secretary of the Faction Artsvik Minasyan presented the biographical data and activities of the candidate for the Chair of the NA Standing Committee on Economic Affairs.

In his speech Vahe Hakobyan touched upon the economic situation in the country, noting that the events of 2020 could not but have their impact on the economy: “In this situation it is necessary to reduce the current expenditures, there is need of tax-budgetary consolidation for coming years directed to the return of the state debt stabilization.” In the opinion of the Committee Chair’s candidate, it is also necessary to create favourable conditions for business through legislative regulations. According to him, from now on the loans taken by state should be aimed exclusively at the capital expenditures.
