On the occasion of Teachers’ Day by the order of the RA NA President Galust Sahakyan pedagogues of different schools of the republic were awarded the NA Medals of Honour, diplomas, acknowledgment letters and nominal watches for their big contribution to the sphere of education. The RA NA President handed the awards, and congratulating the teachers, said:
“Distinguished teachers,
I cordially congratulate you on your professional holiday, Teacher’s Day. This holiday is one of the most beloved holidays of our society, as the teacher has always been respected, appreciated by our people, and we have always treated them with reverence and esteem, and have been filled with gratefulness. It is not accidental that the first Armenian teacher Mesrop Mashtots has been sanctified and enjoys worship.
Through many centuries the Armenian people has displayed an affectionate attitude towards writing, science and education, parent is often selling his/her last thing for giving a right education to his/her child, even, taking away from his/her house, in far away countries he/she has trusted his/her inheritor's destiny to the teacher, unreservedly relying on his/her professional mission and human values.
The teacher's role is invaluable in the education, upbringing and establishment of the growing generation. Dear teachers, you greatly promote the formation of the future citizen of our society, seed patriotism, humanism, consciousness of responsibility and civil posture together with knowledge with your devoted and caring work.
Dear teachers, you, undoubtedly, deserve higher appreciation and more caring attitude. The most possible is being done by the leadership of the country to improve the conditions of your activity and living, which will be of continuous nature. And it is not by chance that saying farewell to school the graduates leave with eyes full of tears, and they are tears of gratitude, love and separation from a close relative.
Due to different circumstances it is not always that your devoted work is appreciated as granted, sometimes the society owes you, not being able to adequately compensate for your efforts. Now we are well aware that the teacher with his/her activity is worth of more appreciation, more caring attitude, and the most possible is being done by the leadership of the country to improve the conditions of your activity and living, which will be of continuous nature.
However, you have never felt the lack of the following: unreserved love and respect towards you by the different layers of the society. And it is not accidental that every pupil accepts his/her teacher as a second parent. This is, undoubtedly, the highest evaluation.
It is known that knowledge is power, and the teacher is destined to be the sower of that power. During this changing times when the information technologies give endless opportunities, when inter-cultural and inter-educational relations have been extended and essentially facilitated, when by the dictate of life the sphere of education is subjected to continuous reforms, more efforts and fervour, mastering of new educational systems and ideas, and self-improvement are required from the teacher.
‘If the teacher loves both his/her work and his/her pupil, that teacher will be perfect,” one of the classical writers said.
Only due to love and unreserved devotion, responsible attitude towards work the teacher can fulfill his/her mission in the best way: teach and raise future citizen of the country. Bad is the pupil who does not exceed his/her teacher. I wish you to have a pleasant occasion to have the joy of seeing your pupils exceeding you.
Once again congratulating you, I wish you good health, family happiness and fruitful activity in your work for the benefit of the nation.”
