On June 25 the Speaker of the National Assembly Mr Tigran Torosyan met with the participants of the Youth Civic Education Program. The young people representing all the marzes of the republic had meetings in Yerevan with the representatives of the local self-government, judicial systems, got familiarized with the institutes of civic society.
Meeting with the young people in the National Assembly, the NA Speaker Mr Tigran Torosyan highlighted the continuity of the Civic Education Program and the awareness of the young people in the functioning and activity of the management system of the country. The NA Speaker told about the parliaments of Armenia and the National Assembly, touching upon also the parliament, which functioned during the First Republic, which gave right of voting to the women already at the beginning of the 20th
century. This applied mainly some European countries in the 70s. The young people were introduced also the RA electoral system, the constitutional amendments of 2005 and their results in the life of the country and in the system of the state management.
During the lasting talk the NA Speaker answered in detail to dozens of questions, which related to the state management system, political and economic life, in particular power-opposition relationship, March 1-2 events and their consequences in the country and outside, the Nagorno Karabakh problem, job, immigration and migration, the legislation regarding the youth and education issues.
At the end of the meeting Mr Torosyan wished success to the youth and called on to make efforts for having powerful, stable and developing country, ensuring that the young people are tomorrow’s owners of the country.
