Meeting at the Committee
1 / 1

On February 25, the Chairman of the RA NA Standing Committee on Agriculture and Environment Martun Grigoryan, the Committee Deputy Chairman Tatshat Vardapetyan and the Committee member Vahagn Makhsudyan met with the members of the Delegation who visited Armenia from the Republic of Tajikistan for the exchange of experience within the framework of the USAID program the Land Reform and Farm Restructuring.

The MPs of Tajikistani Parliament, the officials of the Ministry of Agriculture and the U.S. representatives were included in the Delegation.

At the request of the Tajikistani Delegation, the Chairman of the RA NA Standing Committee on Agriculture and Environment Martun Grigoryan touched upon the problems of the land use in Armenia, the recent amendments to the Land Code and the land reform in our country. He detailed the changes made in that sphere during the years of independence.

The guests from Tajikistan have noted that in contrast with the Republic of Armenia, in their country the land is the property of the state, and the farmer is given only the right to the use of the land. About 160.000 farms function in the country. And as Tajikistan is an agricultural country that sphere is at the centre of attention of the President and the Government. The guests stated that they had already studied the experience of Kyrgyzstan, and now they are studying the achievements and problems of the Armenian side in that field in Armenia: during their visit having numerous meetings with those responsible for that field.

At the end of the meeting the interlocutors expressed hope that the mutual visits will promote the deepening of the inter-parliamentary relations and the enlivening of the Parliamentary Friendship Groups’ cooperation.
