On May 29 the RA NA Speaker Galust Sahakyan received Bassam Muhammad Al-Qabandi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Kuwait. The Head of the Armenia-Kuwait Friendship Group Araik Hovhannisyan attended the meeting.

The Ambassador congratulated Galust Sahakyan on the occasion of being elected the NA Speaker and conveyed the congratulatory message and best wishes from the Speaker of the National Assembly of Kuwait Marzouq Al-Ghanim.

Thanking for the congratulations the NA Speaker highly assessed the successfully developing Armenian-Kuwaiti inter-state relations. He has noted that the Armenian people remember with gratefulness the humanitarian gesture of the Arab people, who refuged thousands of Armenians survived from the Armenian Genocide perpetrated by Ottoman Turkey and thanked the State of Kuwait for the caring attitude towards the Armenian community. Mr Sahakyan has noted that he, as the NA President, is ready to support the Ambassador’s any initiative aimed at the development and strengthening of the cooperation between the two friendly countries.

In the course of the meeting both sides highlighted the further deepening of the inter-parliamentary relations, the work of the Friendship Groups, the bilateral contacts, the development of trade-economic cooperation and the activation of investment programmes.
